In the photos above you can see all the different processes of me making my vessel. I used coils and stacked them on each other one after another until I got to a specific height. Then I evened out the top and added designs to the sides of the vessel that I thought would look cool.
I first made all of the organic shapes out of clay slabs, then I made sure where I wanted them to go on the vessel so I know that they would fit. I also tried to make them look more 3-D when I added them one because I wanted them to pop. The artist that I used for inspiration is Wayne Smith, I made a vessel similar to his and used his idea to come up with my vessel.
The meaning of this vessel is to be visually appealing to anyone who sees it and thinks to themselves that that's a cool vessel. The purpose of this vessel is to be a pencil holder or something that you could put as a nice decoration. When I was making this vessel I was planning on making it so I could give it to my mom for valentines day.
In the end I love how my vessel came out. I feel like everything that I added to the vessel compliments one another and all fits on the vessel nicely. But one thing that was challenging was making the shapes look 3-D because if I took out to much clay from the sides of the shapes it would be weak, so I made sure to take off the right amount and prevent that from happening.
